Ezba takes time out to chat with Spanish based artist Nano4814. .PDF Stickerset to download available.
Introduce yourself
My name is nano4814 and I come from a city named Vigo, northwestern Spain, really close to Portugal in the Atlantic coast of Galicia. As far as techniques go I do not limit myself to one in particular, but I began with spray paint and I suppose everything evolves around them… at least I always find myself abusing the montanas!

What's your age, how long have you been into this?
I just turned 26, and I've been doing my thing since early 90’s… I started a personal and more regular production around 1995...

How's the scene in your city and in Spain right now?
In Vigo there is quite a few interesting things. I go with the Very Special Children Anticrew and they are special for sure! We all ended up in the Fine Arts Academy of Pontevedra, and even though there is too many special children to mention. The ones I do more stuff together are PELUCAS (he is in Tenerife at the moment), TAI ONE aka WOMER, EL TIBAS, AVI and KIKON aka EL CUBANO aka MR HIDE... the only problem is we are a bunch of lazy bastards! In Spain I’ve been traveling a little while and I think the scene is really alive at the moment, and looking stronger by the minute. There is a lot of people working really hard in the streets… .I hate to drop names as I definitely will miss so many people I like! I think is really interesting the fact that Barcelona is becoming like the mecca for street wanderers. There is always so many people from all over that makes things evolve at the speed of light! Let’s see how long it lasts...

You're mostly known for your Choquito character and I know you have a story behind this, can you describe the idea of what does Choquito mean?
El Choquito (the Squid) is just a representation of myself and the medium (ink) I use in the streets...is one of my signatures. I can use it by itself or in combination with different characters or slogans. One of them could be "Flotando por ciudades" (Flowing trough cities) that I relate to the squid and to every writer that moves from city to city leaving their marks in the streets. Traveling is really important for me (and for all graff artists, I think!) and is important for my work. It’s cool to post your images in internet and that shit, but it’s much much better to move from city to city getting up and meeting other individuals who share interests with you.

Do you have any other less known characters?
My work is mainly character driven. Some of them I use more than once… some not.

Where can people see your work apart from Vigo's streets?
I am going to Madrid and Barcelona quite often lately...I have done some damage in many cities of Spain and other places like London, Manchester or New York....Cape Verde and Sicily. In June I am going to paint at Sonar festival with Freaklub (thank you guys!!) and after that Sevilla and Milano, were there is going to be some big reunion and party organized by Abbominevole. I’ll be traveling there with Tono and Panchez!

Which are your influences when you create? Favorite street artists? Who would the choquito love to collaborate with?
Music, Skateboarding and daily life… I get manipulated by women quite easy!! So I guess that would be an influence as well... At the moment I don’t really feel like collaborating with anybody… I want to hide for 5 months somewhere, in a big big city were I don’t know anybody, painting day and night. Maybe be a hobbo in Hong Kong?

Any upcoming exhibitions or future projects?
After these travels I'll try to get myself to the Finders Keepers in Barcelona in mid July, then take it easy for a while and get my life together!! More projects to come for sure with Mr. Karl Stromberg from Subaquatica. I guess people will find out when everything gets done… or not!
