| A double street-art expo held in the gallery's Künstlerhaus Bethanien and urban-art.info in Berlin featuring: The Art Of Urban Warfare, Faile, O'Clock, Obey Giant, Machine, Maurer United Architects, Swoon, Husk Mit Navn, Akay + Adams, Brad Downey + Darius Joves, Freaks gallery, Straight Up, Zedz and many many more. |

The way to the exhibition was full of impressions of street-art making it hard for the exhibition inside to be even better. On the streets the quality was high and the pieces were framed perfectly by the the eroded streets of Berlin.
In contrast the quality at the exhibition itself was quite diverse. From the ideas shown in the streets often nothing is left for a gallery. The work just seemed dead in this zoo-like environment. A few artists like Banksy have found a way to exhibit their ideas in both environments and his work was a highlight.
Linked to 'The Live Issue' was 'The Beauty is the Act' expo at the urban-art.info gallery. This expo looked more like a "live issue", there had actually been live action inside the space clearly with a lot of spontaneity. Although linked, these two expo's are very different. They express the difference between a 'professional' and a 'non-professional' approach of the street-artist. In the end the best thing about these expo's was that it was a chance for a lot of people to get an impression of what street-art means to those who make it.
However the best expo of them all was found in the streets. |
